An event in the Walled Garden during which the royal family and Jaana were supposed to perform an ancient ritual to ward off Versa's growing influence.
The event was hijacked by a Versa cult and Jaana was tricked by powerful illusion magic into killing her friend prince Kaneko with Kaneko's ancestor's blessed sword, thus fulfilling Cole's prophecy: "Beneath black sun, blood unmakes blood".
This act of blood sacrifice summoned a portal from where the giant hand appeared. The hand began to summon powerful monsters. Moreover, the giant hand summoned a flaming orb that shattered into pieces, which then homed in towards everyone present, immediately killing most civilians. The hand then disappeared back into the portal.
The survivors of the orb attack, including Knut, Kaneko's sister and brother and members of the royal guard, had to contend with monsters that kept pouring out of the portals. Their fate remains unclear, for the party escaped the Walled Garden while riding Jaana-turned-griffin.
