Was having a meeting with 2 other crew members when the party crashlanded on his ship, the SS Chosen.
Is obligated to offer the party a place to stay due to international maritime emergency law.
Orders Jaana (in her griffin form) to be contained in the lower cargo deck in chains, however the party persuades him to not have Jaana chained, but instead guarded by 2 people at all times.
After the griffin is secured, has a private talk with Shelley McLennan, Xiong Li and Shtah. He tells them they will have an opportunity to fly off from the ship to Jotunheim in 48 hours when the ship enters the Ironveil Passage, a strait between Jotunheim, Eigo and Xinguang.
After having a private discussion with the awakened Jaana in her human form, he orders the arrest of the party for kidnapping a member of Jotunheim royalty.
Believes in the Chevellan idea of justice (presumption of innocence) and has guaranteed the party’s safety until he has to hand them over to the authorities.
Says that the ship cannot change course, because Lux Sanctus has accepted their cargo (the voidtouched passengers, or pilgrims) and the lives of these voidtouched may depend on them getting to Lux Sactus on time.
Seems to delegate a lot of thinking and strategizing to First Mate McLennan, who he calls by her first name Shelley.
Ordered the evacuation of the ship shortly after it arrived in Caelumnis.
Fights with the party against the fog beasts inside the ship and on the weather deck.
Separates from the party after the party refuses to follow him to the castle Caelumnis.
Together with Shelley and Hurley, meets with the party in their quarters in the castle to apologize for their treatment, not because of fear of god, but because it’s the right thing to do. He wants the party to recognize that he had little choice in the matter of the arrest; he had to believe Grunvald’s accusation, because not doing so would’ve caused a diplomatic scandal.
Survived the monster attack on the castle.
