According to him, Lucia is able to commune with Ardia by receiving visions. One of these visions revealed to her what would take place during the Eigo eclipse ritual.
The eclipse ritual in Eigo that was overtaken by a cultist conspiracy was supposed to summon a calamity to Eigo through a sacrifice of numerous people. By virtue of being present, the party was also marked for sacrifice, but because they managed to escape, the summoning failed. According to Joachim, Versa is now actively trying to kill the party to finish the summoning. The fog that’s laying siege on the castle and the town of Caelumnis exists only for this purpose.
Surprised to learn that some members of the party were not marked during the ritual. He believes that the visions may not be entirely accurate The “mark of sacrifice” targets a soul, and it is not visible on the skin.
Explains that the fog is not spawning monsters, strictly speaking. Rather, the fog is itself a monster, and one so powerful that it cannot be fought by normal means. It needs to be outsmarted.
According to him, Castle Caelumnis has been built atop ancient ruins that predate the Banishing War. There is something hidden in those ruins that allows the mark of sacrifice to be removed, although Joachim doesn’t know the full details.
